Like the calm after the storm...

Friday the 9th of November 2012 was the Year 12s first day
on study leave. I used the free time to practice violn and piano and to finally finish my SMP portfolio.
In my piano lesson later that day I recorded "May it be", singing and playing at the same time (with quite a few mistakes), and my violin teacher exchanged all the pieces she gave me last week against new ones without even hearing some of them. No more double stops !!!

3 little girls woke me up at 8 the next morning, bouncing on my bed. I was quite glad because I had had a nightmare of suddenly waking up back in Germany. I don't want to think about leaving, not yet ! Just stay busy and do everything you always wanted to and do not think further than a month ahead, because that is all that is left from my time here. I could cry !
As a family (but without Tim who went on building a Fort in the garden, a little playground for the children) we went to the Hororata Scottish Highland Festival wearing kilts (my school uniform one) to watch irish and scottish dancing, competing men throwing woodblocks and sacks, the singing wonkey-donkey man, eat ice cream, jump on the bouncy castle. Unfortunately a pony ride, the carousel and the pool-zorbing were all too expensive for all three of the girls... For me it was kind of boring, but I enjoyed every minute with my family and thus I had agreed to come with them everywhere !
We were back home at 1pm. After going to the post office to ask for the cheepest option to send  some of my stuff back to Germany (parcels are sooooooo expensive !!! What I did in the end was taking a 2nd suitcase, that was $150 and a parcel with only 10kg would have been about $500.). I helped building the fort with Tim's sister, his brother's family and his parents.
In the evening I watched a few "Merlin - The New Adventures" episodes. Isn't it nice to not have to do your Lunch in the evening ?

On sunday (yes, all shops were opened) I cycled to the Riccarton Markets at the Racecourse to meet Katarina and we both got most of the souvenirs we needed for our family in Germany, the rest we got at the mall a bit later.
Back at my place (at 4pm) Kata taught me how to play clarinet and trumpet, I got a C major scale !!!    Well, almost...

The international students were supposed to make a trip to the high ropes on monday, but it rained so we couldn't go. At least I won time to study English before my singing lesson and afterwards. Actually the whole day...

The Exams were coming soon.

  1. Man Fanzi,.... That has nothing to do with your blog, BUT I miss you so much here. At the Spot I'm the only International now and at weekends or in outdoor. I miss you. I've so many good memories with you.
I just needed to write this, because I saw your blog it came to my mind. btw conducting is pretty cool and you would have liked it. I hope that music in Germany is still one of your main things in life.
    Love,
    Katarina
